It was with OMEGA’s maritime legacy in mind that the brand launched its Planet Ocean line in 2005. The stylish OMEGA Seamaster Planet Ocean 600M Master Chronometer GMT pays homage to OMEGA’s dive watch heritage.
This model, with its scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, features a black ceramic dial with Arabic numerals, a date window at the 3 o’clock position and a central GMT hand. Mounted on the 43.5 mm stainless steel case is the world's first polished bi-ceramic black and white bezel. Here, the numerals and scaling are delivered in contrasting colours to separate night from day.
Other features include an alveol screw-in caseback and a stainless steel bracelet with patented extendable foldover clasp.
The OMEGA Seamaster Planet Ocean 600M Master Chronometer GMT is water resistant to 60 bar (600 metres / 2000 feet), and has a helium-escape valve. The OMEGA Master Chronometer calibre 8906 at the heart of this timepiece can be seen through the transparent caseback. To achieve Master Chronometer status, it has passed the 8 rigorous tests set by METAS (The Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology).

Features
Anti-magnetic: The movement is unaffected by exposure to strong magnetic fields, even those greater than 1.5 tesla (15,000 gauss).
Bi-directional rotating bezel: A bezel which can be turned clockwise or anti-clockwise. Rotating bezels can be used to time events, measure elapsed times, or read second or third time zones.
Chronometer: Label given to a watch which has undergone precision tests and received a certificate from an official body (COSC).
Date: The day of the month, displayed in a window on a watch dial at the 3 or 6 o’clock position, or within a subdial at 9 o'clock.
GMT and Worldtimer: A GMT function means that the watch has a second hour hand which completes one full rotation in 24 hours and a 24-hour index on the dial. Particularly useful for wearers who wish to track two time zones.
Helium escape valve: Decompression system which allows helium to escape from inside the watch when the watch is worn for professional use in pressure chambers. (Long-term underwater work, crude oil exploration, etc.)
Master Chronometer Certified: Guaranteeing the Swiss industry’s highest standard of precision, performance and magnetic-resistance, as set by the Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology (METAS).
Screw-in crown: Self-locking crown, screwed into the tube of the case, used for highly water resistant divers' watches.
Time zone function: Allows the hour hand to be easily adjusted to different time zones without stopping the watch.
Transparent caseback: A transparent caseback - frequently made of sapphire - makes it possible to see the movement inside the watch.
